Reflection

Like everyone who has seen this very shocking film it was an eye opener for me as well! Unlike most people I am actually able to not only say that I know many people who eat at McDonalds but I have worked there before as well. I for one definitely agree when anyone says that too many people count on fast food to count as meal. Too many people try to make a fast food meal count as a well homemade meal. What Morgan did for the whole world was just amazing and that was exposing what McDonalds does to the human body we are not meant to eat fast food all the time. Fast found should always be a last resort and probably 1-2 a month but tats it. When I was working at McDonalds I would see people come in and order food for every meal and sometimes even bring their kids with them. The food that is made at any fast food joint is not meant to be good for us it is made in matter of minutes and sold. And I do not believe that McDonalds is the person/company to blame they are operating like any business, it is our fault that we have come to the point, all we eat is fast food and because of that more and more people are obesity and more  kids and adults are having health problems more than ever. Do you honestly think that there is not a connection between the amount of people who are eating at fast food places and Americans health? OF course there is a connection but at the same time we cannot blame the company they did not tie us down force feed us. It is called self-control and more people need to be informed on how these $1 burgers are altering our body and our futures. I do agree that something’s needs to change, what exactly that is I just do not know!

I would have to say that you made some really good points in your reflection! The fact that you used to work at McDonald's makes this even more interesting because you were able to first hand witness the food being prepped and what exactly goes on behind the counter that not many customers are fully aware of. I agree with you that there is definitely a connection between the amount of those who are eating at fast food places and how poor America's health is. We easily turn to McDonald's because it's a convenient and cheap place to grab a quick meal and we often times don't think about the consequences it has on our bodies. I also agree that this type of food should only be consumed about one to two times a month to maintain a rather healthy diet compared to those who eat at McDonald's constantly. I believe you made some really great points throughout your reflection and it was easy to relate to since I did the same documentary as well!

  2. I agree with everything you said! Glad others have also watched the same documentary as I did so we can discuss it more! Responding to your comment, I also 100% agree that it is not McDonalds fault but our own. When they had said that the two young girls were suing them, I was very shocked. How can you possibly do that when you are making the choice of eating there. McDonalds is not doing anything wrong, they are simply trying to make business and are successful. I also think it is cool that you can actually connect to seeing what kinds of people come in knowing you worked at the place. I like your post and thought it was very detailed and had a lot of the same points I had saw throughout the film.

  3. As you mentioned, one of the main problems about this fast food industry is that they offer meals for less than a couple bucks. This is a lot cheaper than going to the grocery store and buying some fruits and other healthy foods. Not to mention how much more convenient it is to not even have to get out of your car to get your meal. I remember having this talk in one of my other classes. What the government should do to fix this problem is to raise the taxes on fast food. That would be one step in the right direction.

  4. Steven,
I liked your reflection and agree with all the points you made. You probably had an inside look on everything since you've worked there and know how the food is prepared. I always thought that McDonalds was very unhealthy and definitely a last resort, but hearing from a former employee makes it even more true. I agree, something needs to be done and people need to be more informed and aware of the consequences.

  5. I agree with you completely in the points you have made. I agree with you in that it's not really the company's fault obesity is increasing. It's our decision to go and eat their food. I haven't worked in a fast food restaurant but my sister did and she got to witness things similar to what you did. I like the point you did about the self control because not many of us have it so it's easier to blame the company and not ourselves.
